Some educational and cultural institutions have various folk dance groups for presentations whose purpose is to teach and disseminate Dominican culture. Actually these are not original folk groups, but rather groups of folkloric dissemination or promotion, whose work is meritorious and significant as is the case of the “Folkloric Ballet of Santiago de los Caballeros”.
In various folkloric dances, dancing is an ability and a feeling of the dancers, but its integration to the festivities also takes place when the clapping is a rhythmic complement of the music and the interpretation. More so, in some folkloric dances, for example the Salve, rubbing of the hand palms on behalf of the believers helps carry the rhythm of the music and the pauses for the dance.
