The book “Identity and Magic: Folkloric Dances of the Dominican Republic” takes us on a journey from Europe and Africa to the Caribbean, reaching the shores of the Dominican Republic, and affords us an understanding of the roots of folk dancing, its development and evolution in the Dominican Republic. Moreover, it brings to life dances that are no longer performed but were once vital expressions and of which we still retain vestiges, as well as those dances that are vibrantly present today and provide a hint, through the thread of music and movement, of dances that will surely evolve in the future.
